The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once (Einstein, who liked to think he knew a thing or two)
Time is not a constant thing
It ebbs and flows
Comes and goes
Chases the hands about
When excitement hits it speeds
When boredom strikes it slows
So the time you waste
Is donated to the excited
And your 'where has the time gone'
Is donated to the bored
So time is an elastic thing
You pull on it but do not move
You let it go and it flies away
At times tight as piano wire
That chimes its unforgiving note
At times loose as a ball of wool
Entertains the kitten at your feet
A childs time is an endless summer
For the elderly, a fleeting thing
My time I have decided
My time is neither
My time is now.
Robert E Smith.
Dedicated to the woman I love, following a discussion that sowed the seeds for this. Thankyou Nina.
