Thursday 20 January 2011: 8 years on

This is less of an update,

More a future reminder for myself of how I'm feeling.


Amazingly, I've had the same contacts for 8 years

The funny thing is, one of them isn't even strong enough,

so 8 years of being part blind on the weekends
(they are too weak to wear at work)

In general, contact lenses have moved on a lot in 8 years

and mine were old technology when I got them.

But my eyes are so close to the border of what they can do

so those improvements have been slow to come.

Finally, 8 years on

I decided it was time to make an effort to see if I can get a better match

So far I've tried 9 different test types

I'm down to the final three

none are perfect

but I can see better with the new ones

although they come with other downsides of their own.

I sometimes wish I had normal sight

I even tried looking into laser or surgically implanted contacts

But at my age, with these eyes, theres nothing they can or will do for me.

So I've been trailing every contact imaginable

It's been 4 months and counting and I'm still trailing...

Boy I hope one of these 3 works out.

This feels a bit like yet another decision with no right answer!
