Kinda Blipping

Friday 21 January 2011: The emergency cat blip...

329/365: ... has just been replaced by a shot I'd rather remember for today (so sorry to anyone who commented on the cat blip!). This is of Maddy Moo and her first book she's brought home from school... but more about that later.

First. A Poppy update. A little shaved patch on her leg and the patch on her side where they did the op are just about the only visible traces of her being spayed. She's full of beans and desperate to get outside. She even managed to bash her way through the locked cat flap earlier. There I was, going for a quick amble around the garden when I got home from work... and I could hear her scrabbling against the cat flap. But obviously she wasn't going to get through because it was locked. Right? Wrong. Like a feline Houdini... she got out. Eeeek!

Anyway, powered by superhuman speed and aided by a cat who was slightly bewildered at her feat of escape... I got her back inside.

Y'see how I build towards a crushing sense of anti-climax?

Consider it my gift to you. :o)

Today has been pretty horrid really. I had a dreadful migraine last night and although I ended up crashing out at about 8pm, I ended up waking at 2 because the migraine tablets had worn off and the pain and nausea was back. Not pleasant. Not the best night's sleep really. I still had to go to work though as it's crazy busy and was up at 6am to finish off a couple of other bits of work - sorting out some paperwork and fixing tutorial dates - and then the chaos of the morning and into work on the bus. Which, as normal provided lots of juicy snippets of conversation. But most of them were littered with expletives and aren't repeatable. One snippet though was 'yeah, I 'aven't revised... didn't see the point... I mean... I didn't revise the first time around so why would I revise for the retake?'. That young woman is going to go far...

Work itself - well, we moved offices mid-week and the new set up is better than the old and at least the 'office etiquette' isn't being enforced yet (the no talking, eating, breathing rules). However, I only managed half an hour in the office because the rest of the day was made up of four meetings and rushing to and from those meetings. And with the remnants of last night's poor sleep and migraine was no fun.

Still, at least the kids had a good day at school. Maddy came home with her first ever reading book *points at pic above* (and at this point I have to say the normal disclaimer that yes, she's 7, but she's at a Steiner school where they do this stuff a lot later than other schools) and she's a) thrilled and b) managed to chomp her way through it in the car. Which was ace to see her so happy. Felix was also a happy bunny because he was made a fuss of at kindergarten because it's his birthday on Monday and since he's not in that day, they celebrated today instead. They scoffed the cakes I made last night and had an impromptu party... and gave him a little hand-made gnome which he loves.

Phewie. Busy day! Just typing this whilst Felix's birthday cake cooks and we tidy the house ready for his birthday party tomorrow and my Mum arriving for the weekend.

Chaos and more chaos.

PS Isn't Friday meant to be the day you wind down for the weekend?!
PPS I may have to lodge an official complaint about this whole sorry state of affairs...
PPPS Bloomin' heck, I've written tons! Whoopsie!
