A lot of bottle!

Wrecked! Just come in from an exciting day in Cork city. Himself wished to head to the city to buy some new walking boots so I hitched a ride. I wanted to go to an art exhibition, check out card suppliers and buy some knickers and coffee!! The art exhibition was at the Crawford Gallery, an interesting well established gallery with a pretty eclectic collection, and a highly regarded fine art school attached. 17th C Irish portraiture may not be everyone's cup of tea but I quite liked it. For knickers and strong French coffee, Marks and Spencers combines the two. Coffee successfully purchased but knickers proved more difficult - if this is more information than you would like, skip this bit and catch up at the cards! I am not yet ready for big sensible knickers, nor do I want to be clad in the rather mysterious and alarmingly named Brazilians!! (this is M&S remember!) The only other choice appeared to be 'boyfriend shorts' - you knew this is what they were as they had it written all round the top. None were purchased I'm afraid. No luck with cards at Vibes and Scribes either but they did have a truly fantastic collection of glass beads. I bought a bagful and am sure they will come in useful when I next have a splurge of creativity!

We met up for some lunch at the English Market. This is a covered space that has been a market for more than 150 years. It has a magnificent roof and a mad Victorian fountain in the middle. It is mainly a food market and you can find almost anything here from Greek olives to French cheeses to Irish meat. it also has a very good cafe which is upstairs so you can eat and look down on all the activity. It was packed and we admired the staff who were rushed off their feet but remained cheerful. I had taken a million blips of the roof but then spotted these old glass bottles and just liked their shape and the distortions going on.

Driving home there was also a spectacular sunset and the temperature has now plummeted.
