Wood Pigeon on Red Roof with Ivy

Back to birds! (At least for today.)

My wife (who is often my spotter in the field) spotted this Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus) from our kitchen in Paris's 13th arrondissement (we're on the 4th floor). Its head was tucked in, and I wasn't sure whether it might be worth taking.

At any rate, the bird did pick its head up a bit, and here's the result--though less dramatic than this from last year (probably on the same roof; the bits of blurred red there are chimneys, not tiles).

Viewing it large, you glimpse a bit of the iridescence on the neck that many pigeons have.
