Mordor

This is the 13 mile Tongariro Alpine Crossing which passes through one of the most active volcanic regions in the world. At the start of the walk the mist was swirling so much it allowed visibility just beyond the end of one's nose - but by the time we climbed to the summit of 1886m the clouds had disappeared and we could see for miles. Fantastic.
