Sunday 23 January 2011: #MITEDP - Day 1
It's probably safe to assume a course is going to be pretty intense when it starts at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon.
Along with another 130 of us, the chap in the picture is trying to sum up an idea for a business in four words or less. Two hours later, each of us had pitched our ideas to seven colleagues (taking absolutely no more than one minute a pop) and they'd pitched theirs back at us. We scored each other along the way, and the top 15 ideas form the basis of much of what we'll be working on for the rest of the week.
My idea was one of those chosen, and it's something that's been bubbling around my brain for a while so I'm looking forward to seeing how far eight brilliant minds can take it in a week.
I was a bit apprehensive about this course because I know it's incredibly demanding, but I think I'm going to enjoy it massively.
The late start gave me time to indulge in an awesome* breakfast burrito at The Friendly Toast, followed by a three hour walk around Boston trying to burn off some of the calories contained within.
I have no idea of the actual temperature because they measure it in some old-fangled standard we left them with centuries ago, but it was officially bloody freezing. The skies were blue and the sun was low, so I had a great time photographing a place I think I'm falling for. I've set up a Boston Blipfolio if you fancy a look at my adventures.
Anyway, better get some shut eye. Breakfast with my new team at 8am...
* I make no apologies for the liberal use of this word while I'm on US soil, it's all the rage around here.
