On Hawk Mountain

The Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Kempton, Pennsylvania is where a major percentage of the migrating birds of prey (raptors) of the Americas pass by every spring and every fall. Bird experts come from all over the world to identify and count the hawks, eagles, ospreys and --you name it.

On the day of our visit it was windy and fairly cold on the mountain, but well worth the hike. I'd say we saw about forty raptors pass during the hour or two we spent on the mountain, but it was a step beyond my photographic skills and my camera to capture more than a bird-shaped blur. This is a very beautiful place.
