Monday 24 January 2011: Portable Sunshine

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine. ~Anthony J. D'Angelo, The College Blue Book

It was -2 degrees F, -18.9 degrees C at 4:30 AM when I got our Colorado friends/family up in time for their livery ride to the airport. The weather person on TV said with the windchill factored in it felt like -17 F, -27.2C...no argument here, we all agreed.

When I took this almost glowing warbler, it was -13 C on the glass, not much warmer now. Multiple snow events on the way for the week. We've had over 40 inches so far and winter has a long way to go.

Pretty wiped out today, a shopping trip to the bird food store and cat rotations are about all I can manage. The hissing has stopped when they see each other. She's in her beloved case now, dozing and he's in the hall, stretched out opposite our biggest radiator with his head on a catnip pillow. They can both see each other, although he has his tail end to her.

We had a ride to the ocean yesterday afternoon and delicious lobster and assorted seafood at a favorite restaurant after. I'll link some of the beach shots, it was brutally cold and my little Leica was all I could manage, and not for long.
