Progress

We've made some progress these last few weeks to fulfil one of our dreams of owning a small pied a terre in Rio de Janerio. This evening we learned that settlement had successfully taken place and that we are now the proud owners of a small studio flat in Copacabana, in a leafy residential street 6 minutes walk from the beach. And if you put your head out the window and look right, you can see 'Christ the Redeemer' atop Corcovado!

Our recent time in Brazil was nearly all occupied in finding a place, getting registered with the tax authorities, opening bank accounts, appointing someone with power of attorney to act for us, and proving our funds were 'clean'. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions and set backs, all done in unrelenting Portuguese, but it has come off!

We are excited, and our plan is to use it as a work base for a few months each year and rent it out for holiday lets at other times. Now to finalise a builder to do it up!
