House for Sale

Tucked away in a corner of a much neglected garden, this wooden feature finds a resting place between carefree weeds, a rubbish heap and fortunately, a lot of shadow.

The house next door, which has always been a rental house, is up for sale. At last.

It has seen quite a few tenants come and go in the decade that we have lived here.
Not a happy place.

Except for the first couple who occupied this place, all of the sequential tenants had marital problems. I guess they did not know or care, but the six feet fence between our properties, did little to keep the sound drifting to our place.

Sometimes it was very sad to hear the curses, the fights, the accusations, the swear words and the abusive language. The worst was the couples whose children could hear every word ...

Where we had lived previously for many decades, two houses up that street was also a rental house. It had a similar history ....
Is there a curse on these type of places?

The owner of this house lives in the USA, a very friendly person whom I have met once.
It is obvious that the people she has appointed to take care of the maintenance of this place, have been neglecting their duties in a gross manner.

The lawns are currently ill kept, only cut when the house is on show.
No such luck for the lawns going toward the back yard.
The rest of the garden has weeds that tower above a grown man. Dead branches and other clippings were never taken away - all discarded into one corner.

As I walked around the garden, it became obvious that it must have been a lovely place once. There are many large trees, providing ample shade, lovely little tucked-away corners and many neglected plants that must have been a pride and joy, once.

As for the state of the house ..... suffice to say: it makes my heart ache to see how little respect people have for another's property. It is in bad repair.

I hope that once it is sold that the new owner will take pride in his property - it will cost a lot of dollars, sweat and hard work to get it tip top again.

We were quite surprised this week when we learnt that the neighbours on the opposite side were also selling their house - I am sure that their place is in excellent condition and that it will only be a pleasure to view their lovely property.
