Flash smile

I'd been trying to find something arty to photograph. I spent ages with the pots on my Love Rock, making them look like flying saucers but the light wasn't good.

Later that evening I got out my old generic flash and tried using that to illuminate the subject. My D40 didn't recognise the flash, even though it has all of the Nikon connections on the bottom, so I had to go to manual. I pointed the flash straight up with a handkerchief on top but it still wasn't right.

My daughter came in and was fascinated by my antics and the flash gun so I took a few snaps with her to show how it worked. This picture was far better than the others I spent ages composing!
