White magnolia

Awful day for taking photos, windy and grey. found this magnolia while out walking on a neighbours tree, and was able to shield it to keep it still. (well kind of!!) Too high for a tripod too.

I love the waxiness of the petals, and the dark green and brown of the leaves.

Glad I did it earlier as we had the EQC Earthquake Commission, around to assess the land damage at our house and others in the street. We feel very lucky, a few cracks, a bit of movement of driveway and so on, but nothing serious. Makes you count your blessings and feel deep sympathy for others not so lucky!
