wander, stumble, wonder

A good book...

... is like a good friend. You might not see each other for a year, but when you do meet again, you can just pick up where you left off, and it's like you were never apart.

I put this one down with 250 pages to go and left it for a year. I picked it up again last week fearing I would have to start it again, or find a summary, but no, it all just made sense and I remembered it like I'd only just put it down. 20 pages to go now. Mao's Last Dancer next, for book club, along with Special Topics in Calamity Physics (I've been assured it's far more interesting that the title suggests) and Neverwhere (again). And Dune (again). And Little Dorrit. Lucky I'm on holidays...
