Horsehoof Fungus

Horsehoof Fungus (Fomes fomentarius) is a fungus which grows on tree trunks. It has been used as a tinder since stone-age times as its flesh is very flammable when dried out. Apparently, Ötzi the Iceman was found to be carrying some when he died in the Alps 5000 years ago.
