Thursday 10 February 2011: Stinking Hellebore

That's really the name of this beautiful plant: helleborus foetidus. References say the leaves smell unpleasant when crushed, but I never noticed that. What is so lovely is the tiny bit of red that outlines some of the green petals--just a little lipstick to freshen up before going to the store.
