Friday 11 February 2011: Just what the Dentist ordered...
350/365: An early blip from me today as I've got a whole stack of stuff to do - not just the day job but also got to prepare a tutorial for tomorrow morning for my Open University students. So... this is a 'get it out of the way early' blip. And it was my dose of quiet and calm this morning before the day began on a quick walk around the nearby park. I also remembered that I have a wide angle lens in my possession, even if it isn't a properly growed up one... it makes a change, huh? Mind you, the morning light was so pretty I'm not sure any lens would have been wide enough to capture it all. A yummy start to the day.
And the reason I was going for an early morning walk? To calm my nerves because I had a dental appointment later on during the morning. Which I fretted about. And fretted about. And fretted about. Because I had to have a filling. And I NEVER have to have fillings which obviously paves the way for me to make it into a massive drama in my head. By the time the appointment arrived I had my 'RIGHT! LET'S DO THIS THING!' head on, but my hands were icy cold and you could have chipped off my fake perk like cheap nail varnish. And do you know what? The appointment was running late. And then I didn't end up having a filling in the end after all. Aaaaargh!! Apparently I have a teensy chip on one of my teeth and she 'wasn't sure if it did have any decay or not and it's not actually clear on the x-ray'. Well. Thank you, missus. Since it isn't causing any pain or anything really, she's leaving it alone.
And me with the laxative after-effects of a morning spent panicking about the dentist.
Spiffy.
I also really must stop starting sentences with 'and'. Every time I do it, visions of my headmistress - who was a complete grammar tyrant - pop into my head. I remember one term she had a 'war against 'nice'' - where we weren't allowed to use that word at all. 'There are so many other splendid words, girls!' she trilled. And another term where she lectured us at every opportunity about the wrong that is the word 'fab'. 'Such things are hardly derived from fables, girls!'. Plus countless lectures on the evil of me having my head too close to my writing. And she'd really hate this nice little sentence to finish the paragraph, even though it is terribly nice. :o))
Okie dokie. Back to work. Have just taken some migraine tablets. The children will be back from School (plus one friend) = LOTS of noise. Plus, a mountain-shaped blob of work still to do. Should be... fun.
PS Have had a brainwave about what to do with my students tomorrow.
PPS Am almost feeling organised.
PPPS Have got a meeting with HR about my work issues next week too... so at least something's happening there too.
PPPPS AND IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
