Eversince their births, they have been together.

Unfortunately Deedle is on his way out - and everyday sees him deteriorating as far as his hip-base is concerned. Arthritis? Stiffness?

There is not much to be done, as a matter of fact, he has already gone three years beyond the average date of demise for his breed.

Yet we cling.

We nurse,
We medicate,
We Rife, and
we pray, we love,
Not in an unrealistic fashion
But merely that his parting
Will be swift and speedy
And not us having to take
the final steps.

Yet, when day arrives
We will know
That a quick trip
A last trip
to the vet
will be without return.

I cry.
