Friday 11 February 2011: Maranta
Today, one of my favourite house plants.
This one was bought many years ago as a decoration to put on a coffee table of Chippy's at a Craft Show. It suffers periods of neglect but then throws up new shoots. The leaves unfurl from a tightly rolled tube which exudes droplets of sap.
The other name for this is Prayer Plant because in the evening it makes its leaves stand upright like hands in prayer.
I've had a good day sorting out the backing-up of photos on my external hard drives. I really do need to be more selective about which ones I keep!
