Friday 11 February 2011: A new dawn awaits Egypt

It was a golden sunrise over York University. The Egyptians were soon to celebrate Mubarak's resignation. Watching very closely was this University's president and vice-chancellor Dr. Mamdouh Shoukri - an Egyptian expatriate. Will Egypt call upon him? Who knows? York has had a nation's future leader here before in the form of Andreas Papandreou (1919-1996) - two-term prime minister of Greece (1981-1989) who was a professor of economics here from 1969 to 1974.
