Saturday 12 February 2011: Blackpool Ballroom
well I never thought Blackpool could be so nice! Having visited it many times I have always appreciated it s true tackiness, its great you can do things in Blackpool you'd never dream of doing anywhere else (how else can I explain that being a complete coward about roller coasters, I managed to go on the big one in Blackpool)
Anyway we hadn't got anything planned this w/e and I had cashed in our Tescos vouchers before Christmas for £40 of days out vouchers and we figured we ought to use them. So we headed off to the tower. I have never been to the tower before as it is really expensive. Unfortunately the tower it self is actually out of action but the Tower Circus was appearing for two weeks starting today.
We spent an hour in the indoor play bit, which the boys both really loved and then we went and sat in the Tower ballroom and watched the couples dancing rumbas and paso doble. apart from the fact that the room itself is amazing it was just spell binding to watch the couples dancing and everyone (boys included) were entranced.
The circus was fantastic though I would definitely recommend it, although Bob was a bit concerned about Olga from somewhere in eastern Europe who spent most of her time at spinning wildly at the top of a rope upside down! Simon also appreciated the dancers in their spangley costumes :-)
We then spent a beautiful half hour on the beach, it was just lovely. not many people beautiful weather, everything Blackpool usually isn't I have to say. So thank you Blackpool and Mr Tesco for a really nice day out.
