Car Boot, Coffee, Chat, Carrot Cake, Cycling

I had high hopes for today. I went to bed last night imagining a crisp and sunshiney morning - perfect for an early morning walk up Arthur's Seat with a flask of tea and a blanket to keep me warm. Lo! minutes after putting my head on the pillow, it started to rain.........plan B..........
........so car boot sale it was then! I got a few nice things....
.....including the book "The Reader's Digest Family Book of: Things to Make and Do". I already have a copy of this book - it is amazing - there are instructions on anything from marbling paper to building your own Jungle Jim!Well worth having two copies.......

Bumped into my good pal Sandy Christie (http://www.sandychristie.co.uk/) at the car-boot, so he came over to mine for lots of coffee drinking and chat. Then we cycled into town to Armstrong's in the Grassmarket before popping into a new coffee shop called Loudons (http://www.loudons-cafe.co.uk/). It was really an excuse to see our mutual friend Phoebe at work and get some mates-rates. I had a hot ginger beer (http://www.luscombe.co.uk/Drinks/HGB.html), and a very delicious piece of carrot cake.

Sandy and I parted ways, and I got back on my bike and cycled via Real Foods (where I bought lots of things I don't need) onto my studio at Rhubaba Studios (http://www.rhubaba.org/) to pick up a few things for a weaving experiment. Whilest there, I bumped into a couple of my studio-mates - Claire and Rachel. We chatted about synesthesia and then Rachel showed me her technique for polishing aluminium tubing - It was mind-blowing.

Back on my bike, to Scotmid to pick up a tin of tomatoes for pasta puttanesca, before receiving an invite for dinner at Alice's (http://www.aliceladenburg.com/). I had just enough time to pop back home for a wee beer before setting out on my bike again.......

........lovely chat and company was had as well as delicious food courtesy of Alice and Ottolenghi (http://www.ottolenghi.co.uk/blog/2010/03/02/plenty-by-yotam-ottolenghi/).........and fudge that makes grown men weep (apparently).

Back on my bike across town, and to bed. Ahhhhh what a day!
