Tuesday 15 February 2011: Ode & Good Bye to the Junco
I know I was wanting to blip my robins today, but they are hiding from me. I did see one this morning though, flying through the yard. I expect to start seeing more and more robins everyday now (except today).
Here's the dark eyed junco.. I thought I'd honor it today, because it will be leaving very soon. I've actually known them to be called snow birds. They are ground feeders and like to hop around the ground at the feeding stations. Very unassuming birds, I've always noticed they mind their own business. So while we're saying hello to spring birds, we will say good bye to the little juncos when they fly north for the spring & summer.
