Thursday 17 February 2011: Anyone for Croquet
Today I called in at Riccarton House and Bush, and there was a Garden Gala on with entertainment, stalls. It was advertised as mainly for older adults, and was free.
It was a sunny day, and there was a good turn out of people, some from the local 'homes' and they were all being catered for with seats and sun-hats. They were all having a great time, and even up shaking their bodies for the fitness program, otherwise clapping in appreciation.
I noticed these colorful ladies being shown how to play croquet.
They had a half hearted attempt and then left. I spoke briefly to them as they did not have a good grasp of English. They were from Somalia, and the one lady said that she had been here for 10 years.
