Friday 18 February 2011: This Is Not a Snowdrop

Like most of the UK based Blipfoto community I have felt the urge to display a snowdrop as an indicator of the coming Spring, even here Oop North.

These hellebores caught my eye though, as they're the first herbaceous flowering plants to come out on campus, seen here in the borders of our Peace Garden, which luckily is immediately outside my office window.

I'm not sure if this is the variety known as Lenten Rose, but if it is it's a bit early, as Lent doesn't start until the 9th of March.

I expect I'll find more exciting things in my Mum's garden when we head over to Wales for a half-term break on Sunday.
