Another Long Winded Tale

Down to the chandlers at Granton to hand in my old mainsheet and block - the old guy there will splice a nice new rope onto the old block - I'm not sure many places will do that anymore. There were a lot of nice shiny things in there so I'll be back next week to stock up. Later visited F who is laid up with after an ankle operation. He thinks he'll be back playing football in 8 weeks or so. I told him, in a fatherly way, that he should do no such thing and just hang up his boots.
Later, took in the footy down the road where the local favourites ran out winners. Poor Lizzie missed the opening goal (which was for our opponents) and thought that we were 1-0 up. She therefore misread the whole game - she was astonished the the 'third' goal(our winner) was greeted with such acclaim. And when United got an injury time penalty (which gave them the chance to salvage a draw) she was quite indifferent, believing that we'd still be 3-1 winners even if they scored (they didn't). She was surprised to see the 2-1 scoreline in the sports news in the pub after the game.
