Very At(moss)pheric!

This was taken in the Gilfach nature reserve that is a little offshoot of the Wye Valley. There is a beautiful nature reserve bisected by an old railway line, which we discovered, used to take coal from South Wales to Scapa Flow to fuel the Fleet. It was thus named the 'Jellicoe' line after Admiral Jellicoe - there you go!

It was one of those days which are a speciality of Mid Wales - cold and wet, but as soon as we were out it was gorgeous.

Son No. 2 insisted on being carried on my front with his feet in my coat so the walk proceeded at a leisurely pace.

Anyway, salmon, otters, woodpeckers, red kites and all manner of other wildlife can be seen in the reserve. We spent a few minutes in the Otter hide and I think the boys were slightly disappointed that the Otters did not appear to order.

This is a photo of some splendid moss. I could have taken a picture of fields full of ancient moss covered anthills but this will do for today. Not the glorious landscape I promised but more a celebration of moss.

Untrained Eye has taken a load of great photos today but then he wasn't carrying Son 2 was he?! These retired types..!
