Monday 21 February 2011: Plasma Sphere

Continuing my catch-up from time away in Wales, Monday found us drawing on our wet weather standby activity for the little ones. This involved an hours drive to Wrexham through the fog to visit Techniquest Glyndwr Science Discovery Campus. This proved to be a great interactive attraction, with learning/play activities that happily kept 3yo and 6yo occupied for a few hours.

As someone that works in higher education, it was interesting to see something like this sited on a university campus - drawing children into the university environment from an early age. Well done Glyndwr University.

This image of a plasma sphere, a nice explantion of which is provided here. I'm not a scientist, so I'm attracted more to the magic and wonder of things like this, but sometimes an explanation can deepen your appreciation.
