Thursday 24 February 2011: Float

363/365: Hellebore soaking up the morning sunshine, right before I planted it in a fit of over-enthusiastic gardening which has left me shaky-legged and claw fingered. Glamorous. The plant itself was a gift from my Mum who was visiting yesterday (and being busy with her visit was the reason for a very late blip since it was a really full day yesterday. Today, however, was much quieter.

But obviously I then had to try to cram too much in, as ever! After brekkie and just before she went home, Mum, the monkeys and I walked / rode down to the shop to get a few bits. The kids were massively excited about the prospect of going to the shops with Grandma and got themselves up and dressed faster than I've ever witnessed them doing so before. I wonder if it's too much to expect Mum to come up every day to help them out of the house? It's only a five hour round trip after all... ;o)

Once we were back and had said goodbye, I set about continuing my digging marathon in the garden. I'm turning an 'overgrown with geraniums' patch into a herb bed. But geraniums are evil and spread everywhere. It's like trying to dig up a dry ski slope. Vile, hateful stuff. Had lunch, went to the garden centre, then back for more digging and planting. And I also managed to squish my little finger with the garden fork. Can't beat a good bizarre injury...

Other bizarre injuries I've sustained:
1. Burning my chin with spinach
2. Popcorn stuck in my eye
3. Breaking my nose with the baby
4. Getting a black eye from an old-fashioned blood pressure gauge

Number 3 obviously requires just a tad more explanation. The explanation I gave to the doctor at the time was 'my husband broke my nose with my baby'. Which is almost cartoon-esque if you give it a moment to simmer in your head. What actually happened was I was lying on the bed, Nick clumsily laid Felix next to me, misjudged it and landed Felix's massive head on my nose. Ouch!

A slightly crushed finger and I've got off lightly today, I think!

PS Nick's private view went well yesterday and he's also got another commission - yay!
PPS He also hates this shot, but I'm blipping it anyway. Yay me! :o)
