Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Art:yellow!

H and I went to the downtown library on the bus to attend a talk about Seattle's upcoming opera, Massenet's Don Quixote, a seldom performed work which we have never seen -it will be quite fun i think. I took some photos of the bus which was all chained up for snow, traveling on bare and dry streets, but that was pretty dull, even to make a point. (Only a dusting of snow in Seattle, but there was more to the north and it's VERY cold, and at the moment there is no power in our island cabin due to high winds I think --so we feel OK about coming home early to toasty houses!)
It was grey outside so I couldn't resist this Yellow picture with all it's odd shapes. It's a video installation by Tony Oursler in the wall next to the yellow escalator between floors in the library- - one gets about 10-15 seconds to see it as you move by. It changes, (faces, lips) and it speaks, so it would require several trips up and down to see it all. It's called "Braincast" and has to do with contemplation on the transmission of information - a tradition of the public library. The yellow strips are reflections of the flourescent lights above the escalator. I do love yellow!
