The second half of life..

Daisy whirl

Friday again.......the week's passed in a whirl.

A week no-one will forget - and whilst the USAR [Urban Search And Rescue]teams continue to do what they can to locate and rescue any survivors, and recover those less fortunate, hundreds - thousands - of others are beginning to feel the enormity of the situation in the most mundane of ways. Schools closed, (for how long, no-one knows), many, many previously taken-for-granted services are either non-operational or severely restricted. Things like uncontaminated, free-flowing water, electricity, shelter, heating, petrol, supermarkets, ATM's, chemists........work......transport......The regions top rugby team cancelled their Super-15 match this weekend and the players took to the streets to help dig some of the liquefaction mess from suburban streets, so many of the players affected themselves by the earthquake.

Day-to-day life in Christchurch is going to be so very, very different for a long, long time. I'm sure New Zealand's pioneering spirit will begin to shine through.

But it will take time......
