Wednesday 23 February 2011: Craftsmen (ish)

It might be hard to believe, but this little bit of inlaying took two not incompetent DIYers about 2 hours to get right.

At least I don't think we're incompetent. But add precision mitreing, concrete drilling, mind-bending constraints, internal angles (always do my head in) and a bit of faff, and it was always going to be a nightmare job. Very pleased with it though.

This was after sawing the bottom off the door was turned into a much smaller nightmare than expected by the unexpected lending of a mega-saw from our next door neighbour.

(He's a joiner by trade, so I felt quite privileged to be allowed to borrow his tools.

And then I saw it was hired.)
