Saturday 26 January 2008: Gorzderette!
Our second time in the Gorzderette - a kind of multi-sport competition, consisting of
- escalade sur glace - ice climbing
- luge à foin - pushing a bale of hay on a sledge
- ski-arc - cross-country sking with archery
- cordee - a kind of mountaineering obstacle course
Haven't got our places yet, so not sure whether we were better or worse than last year. We were definitely better at pushing the sledge, but worse at the cordee - we kept falling off the slippy logs...
The event is held in the upper Champagny Valley which only gets the sun for about ten minutes, so it can be quite a cold day - it was -16 last year, only about -3 this year, so much more bearable. Again we were the only English-speaking team.
