The September Southern Classic Truck Run

Today the Southern Classic Truck Run passed through Murchison, and although some of the trucks arrived at lunch time, most arrived just as School was getting out at 2.45pm. I picked up the boys, and we went along to have a look.

This picture shows just a selection of the trucks that stopped for afternoon tea. To enable to participate in the run, the trucks have to be at least 30 years old - some were older, but all were beautifully restored. The plan is to get as far as Invercargill, at the very bottom of the South Island, in the next week.

A lot of the trucks were from the North Island of New Zealand, and came over the Cook Strait on the ferry this morning. Other trucks are joining the run as they move along the South Island.

This was a wonderful parade of beautifully restored classic trucks - not something you see in a small rural town very often.

For those interested in viewing the trucks closer, try enlarging the photo.
