Olive Tree - old and gnarled

We passed this ancient olive tree many times during our stay in Cyprus. I have some artistic images of the old tree but thought this was the best one to upload as the information board tells you all about the tree which sits in the centre of the town of Polis.

There were many olive groves around the town as well as oranges , limes, grapefruit and palm trees laden with dates. The local people were very kind and would throw us down some dates as we passed while they were working on the trees. We were also able to pick mandarins as well as big oranges on or way to the beach, great after you came out of the sea with the taste of salt in your mout, very refreshing ( if you picked the ripe ones- some were very sour ). Also seemed very strange to be able to pick wild brambles along by the sea shore.
