Meh. I stopped buying them when they started putting large puncturable bubbleses on the side... Merrels and New Balances for me...

Thanks. I got them a few weeks ago because I needed a new pair of trainers, but they weren't a birthday present. They won't look clean for long! :-) I got them because of the air bubble, because they're cool! 8-)

I'll go with Gary, those Nike Air Max, and more so, the Nike Air Max Classic, are cool. I've had loads of pairs of them and they've only ever burst the bubble when they've been a year or two old and had heavy usage. When my bubbles burst, they're usually that battered that they need replacing anyway. But having said that, last year, I bought myself a pair of Merril walking shoes instead of my usual Nikes. I thought they'd be better for general walking and they had Goretex in them etc. They're good shoes, but have the fatal flaw of being the most slippy shoes ever on wet rocks and pavements! Which kind of voids them as a good walking shoe! I thought it was just my pair, but I noticed quite a few posts in Google Groups with other people noting the same.
