The Edge of the Wold

The mermaid's view

Day 6 on Raasay, our last full day.

This was the only really wet day of the holiday on Raasay, despite all the weather warnings before we set off.  In the event a rainy day didn't bother me as much as it might, as I was by then suffering from a dose of man flu of inexplicable origin.  Even then, we still managed to see the mother and two kits otters on their daily feeding expedition along the water's edge as Gus went for his morning walk.

In the afternoon we braved the elements for a walk around the shore from Raasay House.  Here we see one of the two stone mermaids who look over the Sound to Glamaig of the Skye Red Cuillins.  The photo is taken from behind to protect her bare-breasted modesty - as well as to show her view over the still relatively new ferry pier.

Six days went all too quickly, that's what happens when you have a lovely time and don't want it to end.  I still have one more back-blip to do, of our journey home.
