end of the line

We have a gig in a railway station cafe, in Quorn near Loughborough.  As we set up in the afternoon, two steam trains pull in and people go mad.  I had no idea Anniemay would turn out to be a trainspotter.  Nor the rest of the band.

I know there are a lot of blippers who like this sort of thing so I’ve added a few extras.

The gig was touch and go for me; for about the past 3 weeks I’ve a had a hacking cough and sore throat - so much so that I’ve not been able to sing.  We (the band) decide that I’ll just sit in and play.  In the end I manage one song.

As we do ‘end of the line’ another steam rain packed with people dining, passes through the station.  We see it through the venue windows, but no one rushes outside to look.

It’s a fabulous night - the place is packed and we do three encores.  Perhaps I should sing less often.

And then a bonus on the way home.  As we make our way through the Leicestershire countryside around midnight, we see, through the clouds, the meteor shower.
