In My World

Mono Monday ~ Mail Boxes.

From first hearing that this weeks Mono Monday theme, hosted again by Rainie, was to be mail boxes, I had in mind that I wanted to find something different, something other than your usual box with a slit through the upper edge, perhaps an old style farm house mail box.

So with this idea in mind, I took a trip along some country roads, through the township of Tumbulgum, along the Dulguigan Road, past Urliup Road turnoff and into the township of Kynnumboon. (I'm telling you the names of some of these places, as even to my mind, being a local, it seems to me that they sure picked some odd names for around here!)

Every farmhouse I passed along the way had just the typical style mail box, not what I was looking for, but I knew where I was sure to find something, um.....alternative.

At the old homestead of "Lisnagar", which I have blipped before, and was built by my husband's great-grandfather, there is nothing new! The Twohill family are just a tad, shall we say, eccentric? I think that word just about covers them....

And Terry, the current owner, didn't disappoint. I arrived at the old homestead to find that the latest mail box is an empty plant pot, turned on its side! I kid you not, and there is even a letter inside the mailbox, to prove its authenticity.

It's a cool and windy day, but inside my car I kept warm, driving along the country roads, past the fields of sugar cane, and into Kynnumboon. I parked the car and took a few other photos whilst there too. I think I have found a few interesting prospects for future blips today.

Many thanks to Rainie, for hosting another fun mono challenge. :)
