Boats on Loch Linnhe - Fort William

First day of our short trip to the highlands.

Left Edinburgh at 8 in the morning (just as the bad weather went away ... oh well :) ). Nearly got left in Tyndrum (bus driver one told bus driver two he had no people for Fort William) but all turned out OK. Arrived in Fort William around 12.30 and first walked around the centre a bit. A nice little town with a great atmosphere. Then checked into our hotel which was at a great location + good value.

As there was heavy rain on and off and Pieter didn't have a coat (weird ... I totally agree) we bought him a coat and then went to a bike centre. Hired us a couple of mountainbikes and set out in the light rain.

The plan was to bike to Nevis Range. We got lost for a bit but thanks to a nice gentleman we ended up going in the right direction. As we were biking to the top there were three routes and we just picked one at random. Which led us across the Witch's Trail to the Nevis Range car park. A pretty awesome (and to us) at times slightly intimidating mountain biking trail .We really had loads of fun and only minor bruises :). Had a muffin at the top and went back the same trail. We ended up biking a total of 20km in total ... pretty decent as we left at around 3.

Then a well deserved shower (and washing of our soaked (heavy rains) and mud-covered clothes). After that we saw a pipe band march through the town and enjoyed a good dinner.
