Monday 9 December 2013: Christmas cake part II
The fruit has been soaking in the best part of a bottle of brandy for almost two weeks now. The dried fruit dry no longer, now so swollen with liquer that there was a pool left over beneath the fruit!
The house smells heavenly, if rather alcoholic.
The icing always seems to get done on Christmas Eve, probably because the cake gets wrapped up and forgotten about and of course it wouldn't be done to cut into it until after the turkey on Christmas Day, that's the whole crux of Christmas isn't it. Traditions!
