Thursday 2 September 2010: Another bird blip
but not 'just' another bird blip. This is a secretive and reclusive little bird called a Water Rail.
Today I decided to grab a sandwich and have lunch at a local bird watching spot, not really expecting to see much as there were screaming kids and noisy adults teeming around the place, so I warily sat down and started to eat my sandwich. 30 seconds later I nearly dropped my sandwich and camera as I juggled to focus a cheese and tomato pickle sandwich. Luckily the bird stayed around for about 5 minutes before slipping quietly back into the reeds.
H will probably never forgive me for getting such good views.
