Lyra's life in pictures

Back Blipped

We all have people in our life who we call Uncle or Auntie although they aren't actually related to us. Usually they are special friends of our parents. Lyra is pictured here with one such Auntie - Auntie Chrissie. Chrissie has worked in our family business for years and has become a very special friend. She was one of the very few people invited round for a cuddle during Lyra's very early days.

I too have a very special Auntie. She is my late grandmother's best friend in all the world. Just before Lyra was born she discovered she had breast cancer and was recovering from a mastectomy and awaiting a date for chemotherapy at the time this photo was taken. As I'd been taking pictures on my iPhone I emailed them through to her. On this day, I was a little late (I hadn't consciously been taking one a day) and she sent me a message saying - "Where's today's photo? You can't miss a day, the thought of seeing Lyra every day is what's keeping me going."

So I started taking a photo a day. For my very special Auntie Cassie to help her battle her cancer. We couldn't possibly want all these photos we thought. They all look the same. But now, just five months on, they are already precious memories and I'm so glad of every one.

This was our first day without a midwife visit. I knew that both my lovely midwives were on the end of the phone and all was fine, of course, but it felt like a big step!
