as for your choices: i think, i would go for the lens - simply, because it offers more "instant" gratification than the software.
i downloaded the trial version of cs3 (for pc, though) last week and it slowed my computer down quite a bit, although i own a pretty new machine. it has some great new features, but it increases file size and produces huge temp files.
so if i was you, i would download the trial version and go for a "test run". adobe is kind enough to let you play with all the features for 30 days.
enough time to decide what to buy.

~ stine   I think you know what I'd recommend. I adore that lens!!! It's well worth the money and even on those rare occasions where I don't use it at 1.2. the quality is superb at any aperture. It's also about 90 quid cheaper than when I bought it :(

~ Tinks   Yeah get both, after all a bird shitting on is you is lucky so I think it's meant to be. After all, what use is one without the other... the lens and CS3 I mean, not the bird and the shit.

I remember the TV programme of the Mallen Streak, it seemed to indicate you were a bit of a nasty piece of work. Which isn't you at all.
