Sunday 28 February 2010: Gone To Mexico

Tomorrow morning I'll be flying out to Mexico with my girlfriend for a month.

Our flight leaves Heathrow Terminal 4 at 8.40, and a short 15 hours later we'll be in Guadalajara, to be met off the plane be a representative from Projects Abroad, the organisation we're going with. We're both staying with Mexican families in the town of Ciudad Guzman, 2 hours south of Guadalajara, and working in the community. I'm working in a 'Residential Treatment Unit' - "a safe place where (male) children who have had problems with drugs or have been living on the streets can receive attention in order to help them readapt to a more healthy family and society life." Should be a highly challenging few weeks, but hopefully the experience of a lifetime.

As well as working, we'll also have enough time to explore the town and see a bit of the south of Mexico at the weekends too.

This means I won't be uploading another blip until the second of April at least! Crazy. I'll probably have some access to the internet though, so I'll check in to comment and view every so often :) You can expect a spree of backblipping in early April.

In the meantime, enjoy my pin board.
