Thursday 2 September 2010: Leading in the hay

These days, the hay fields on our farm are cut, turned and baled by one of the neighbouring farmers, who keeps a lot of the hay produced. Some, however, is still kept by us to feed the animals over the winter. The decent weather recently has allowed the hay to be completed for another year. This was the second last load of the harvest. What you can't see is my brother and his sheepdog who rode on the back of the load as it came down the road. As kids, we used to do that too. It was incredibly dangerous of course, and I remember Mam having kittens over us riding on high loads of hay over several miles of bumpy roads, but we absolutely loved it!

Been looking at loads of the Unstaged entries - wow, what brilliant photos!
