Sunday 16 June 2013: Sunshine & Shadows
What a difference a day makes. A beautiful summers day on the Clyde today. A wee jaunt down to Largs front. The lifeboat was out practicing, the fun fare was in full flow, whole families were sitting slurping on ice cream cones and the minesweeper HMS Bangor was tied up at the pier showing people around. Summer days in a seaside town.
The contacts went in fairly easily this morning... Well in one eye anyway. The left popped straight in but the right just refused to take. It came off my finger fine and seemed to be ok when I flipped my eyeball around but each time I closed my eye it seemed to catch on my bottom eyelid and come out. Heh, I eventually dropped it so I had to open another. Same thing happened. I eventually had to lift it over the bottom of the lens and all was fine after that. Flabby eyelids!
I think it might take a little getting used to. I don't know if this is normal but it takes a wee bit of time to refocus between distance and near. Heh, and I need to keep things a reasonable distance between my eyes and closer things. The ability to look over my specs and put things up to my face to get them in focus is gone. The phone and camera screen have to stay at arms length! :-)
Taking out the lenses were more of a problem. They were quite sticky when I did get them out eventually but it needed a wee bit more firmness than I'd had to apply when practicing at the opticians. I'm guessing I was just being to delicate when trying to get them out but the "move the lens to the white of your eye with your forefinger and pinch with your thumb to remove" became more of a "smudge your finger across your eye and force the lens out of the side of your eye";! :-))
Worry not. Once the novelty wears off I won't bore you with any more details. If anyone has any in/out tips though, all most gratefully received! :-)
Happy Fathers Day to all the dads and grandad's out there in blipland!
