Thursday 2 September 2010: A grand day for a funeral!
A beautiful day to day but I had to go to a friend's mother's funeral. My pal has looked after her crabby father who died a few years back, then her mother and her aunty who were both very hard work, all this she did while holding down a stressfull teaching job. I take my hat off to her. Though she had two other sisters, the real burden fell to her with the sisters offering "token" help as and when it suited them. Today when I was wathching the three sisters I could so tell which one could hold her head up with pride rather than with guilt!
Its not easy looking after difficult relatives! I did it for a year or so looking after my granny who was difficult and would not sleep at night. Its hard coping with their unfortunate ravings without the added burden of lack of sleep, back up or any social assistance so to my friend I will raise my glass when I go to the George hotel for dinner this evening with two other good friends who will be going back to Ireland.
Todays picture is of a place called Dubh Loch. Don't know why its called that as in Gaelic it should be An Loch Dubh! we would never say Dubh Loch. Also while there the place creeped me out! got the feeling I was being watched! but then there were notices everwhere saying "private! no fishing" no doubt by the orders of the Ducke of Sauchiehall as his father was once called.
An interesting wee story about the old Duke of Argyll. He liked to visit the old soaks who were attending the local spinn dryer(psychiatric unit for drink problems) Anyhow this day the Duke spoke to this chap who was rolling a fag. They guy never acknowledged the Duke as being a titled person and he had a bit of the cream puff(huff) so he went back to him and said "do you know who I am?" "NO" says Mick. "Well I am his Grace the Duke of ARgyll" says Mick "Ach well a few more weeks in this place and they will soon knock that dammed nonsense out your head"
Oidche Mhath uile blippeachs!

A beautiful image! Thanks. My Mom, 89, is staying with me. It is not easy. Even though I love her very much.
