Thursday 2 September 2010: Golden
It's my favourite time of year September. Temperatures drop now to something more bearable, and the Island becomes slightly more chilled after the busy months of July and August.
The landscape is scorched from not only the sun, but the dry winds. I think the afternoon is possibly the best time to take a photo, as the low light shines through the dried grass and almost illuminates it to strands of gold.

Wonderful composition! I love the old building, the stone walk, the light and shadows, and the green tree hanging over everything. Just great.

Oh, those golden shades in the tall grass!! Such a great contrast to the deep green leaves of the tree!! And that building???? I love it....is that the same one you have photographed before but from a different spot? I don't know how common those rocks building up the windows are.

It's just an amazing shot, everything is golden, and that wall standing alone is just incredible, with that splash of green from the tree, just a stunning capture!!Matt

Both morning sun and autumn/winter sun does arrive in helpful angles. Well, the sun doesn't arrive, does it? I often sit, waiting in the morning for the sun to arrive and to pick out features or shine through leaves, then realize I am spinning through space very, very fast because the light moves over the countryside fast. This is a very mellow photograph, very lovely.

This shot is amazing - I have been following your journal recently (but don't think I've commented yet :-()
I love the colours & textures, the composition & light - but this is the shot (so far) that reminds me most of the summers I worked in Greece - I can almost feel the heat, then the cooling nights but most of all I can almost smell the dust, the dry grass & herbs & scrub.
thank you
