St Editha's Church, Tamworth

This beautiful building is the largest medieval parish church in Staffordshire.

I had to venture into Tamworth town centre today, something I generally avoid now as it's sad to see what a shell of it's former self it has become. It has been said that if the council had preserved, rather than destroyed the historic builidings during the 1960's, Tamworth could now be as popular to tourists as Stratford-upon -Avon! Maybe that is going a little far but the combination of empty retail units, discount shops and unattractive public buildings mean the town has lost it's charm! Having said that, this beautiful church still stands, where it has for many centuries, overlooking the market square.

Good Luck to Tamworth FC in their FA Cup qualifying round replay tonight against Hinckley!!!

Happy Tuesday x
